‘Once Upon A Time in Gaza’ debuts at Cannes Film Festival, spotlighting life under siege

A powerful Palestinian crime thriller set in Gaza premieres at Cannes. The film titled 'Once Upon A Time in Gaza' is set in 2007, after Hamas took over control of the Strip. It depicts daily life under Hamas rule and the Israeli blockade. The film was directed by the Nasser brothers - Palestinians who both left Gaza in 2012. They say they wanted to shed light on the plight of Palestinians on a global stage. Director Arab Nasser emphasized the importance of showcasing the Gaza narrative at a time when the region continues to suffer from violence and international neglect.
