Forensic team probes mass grave of 800 babies at ex-Irish orphanage
Forensic excavation has begun at a site in western Ireland where almost 800 babies are thought to be buried. It used to be a Catholic home for babies and unmarried mothers.
A 2021 inquiry found many had died of neglect and were dumped in a disused septic tank. Now, an international team of experts seeks to uncover and identify their remains and find out what happened.
Al Jazeera’s Jonah Hull reports from Tuam in County Galway, Ireland.
