Protesters in Madagascar gather in the capital to celebrate

Youth-led demonstrators assembled outside the city hall of the Madagascan capital, Antananarivo, on Tuesday, a day after after the president, Andry Rajoelina, fled the country saying he feared for his life following a military rebellion. The protesters celebrated the military takeover of the Indian Ocean island after weeks of demonstrations sparked by water and power shortages, which have since grown into broader demands for reform and accountability
