Nearly a million first-time voters are expected in Ivory Coast’s presidential election.
The campaign has seen rising political violence, raising fears of destabilising the post-civil war peace.
Al Jazeera spoke to new voters about their hopes and concerns for the future.
One voter, reflecting on her experience, says economic growth is not felt by ordinary people.
She explains that formal-sector wages are low and daily life remains a struggle.
Despite these hardships, she acknowledges voting is necessary, even if not a priority in her mind.
Her hope is that whichever candidate wins will ensure peace for the country.
