MPs vote to pass Keir Starmer's welfare bill after last minute concessions
Keir Starmer's universal credit and personal independence payment bill was passed with 335 votes to 260 on Tuesday. The vote came after the prime minister offered rebel backbenchers a last-minute concession on personal independence payment cuts which will be shelved until next autumn following a review. The welfare reform brought on the largest Labour rebellion in Starmer's premiership with 42 Labour MPs voting for an amendment earlier proposed by Rachael Maskell amendment which would have killed the bill
