US imposes tariffs on copper: Chile braces for 50% levies on its biggest industry

President Donald Trump’s plan to impose a 50 percent tariff on all copper imports has come as a shock to Chile, the number one exporter of the metal to the US. The government is calling on private and state copper companies to come up with policies that will shield producers from the impact of the levies.
