UNESCO begins process to add new World Heritage sites, countries vie for recognition

UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee has started the process of selecting new sites to add to its prestigious list. Over several days, 32 member countries are proposing sites and monuments they hope will earn the coveted label. Such recognition helps raise global awareness and often leads to better protection and preservation efforts.
