Tuvalu faces uncertain future: Australia offers permanent residency to islanders

A small Pacific Island nation is facing an uncertain future, with at least one-third of its residents seeking visas to move to Australia. In a world-first climate migration treaty, Australia is granting the residents of Tuvalu permanent residency. But the agreement has already proven too popular and some say an exodus of workers could hurt Tuvalu’s long-term future.
