Trump will want to ‘highlight’ his role in any ceasefire deal: Analysis

US President Donald Trump says a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas could come as soon as this week. Israel's Prime Minister is expected to meet Trump in Washington later today. In Doha, indirect talks between Hamas and Israel are ongoing. Hamas says it's sent quote a “positive response” to mediators on the latest US-backed ceasefire proposal - with some amendments. But Netanyahu has called Hamas' demands “unacceptable.” The latest ceasefire agreement is very similar to previous proposals, Adel Abdel Ghafar, the director of the Foreign Policy Program at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, tells Al Jazeera.
