In an interview with Al Jazeera, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif rejected Indian allegations linking Pakistan to the Kashmir attack, calling it a "homegrown resistance" in occupied territory. He cited unresolved UN resolutions on Kashmir and accused India of diverting attention from its own human rights abuses under Modi. Asif warned of potential Indian cross-border retaliation but affirmed Pakistan’s readiness to respond, referencing the 2019 downing of an Indian jet. He dismissed claims connecting Pakistan’s army chief to the attack as baseless, while reiterating Kashmir’s status as Pakistan’s "jugular vein." The minister accused India of possible "false flag" operations and highlighted nuclear risks, urging global intervention. Throughout the exchange, Asif emphasised Pakistan’s diplomatic support for Kashmiris, denying any militant ties. The interview concluded with his stark reminder: the Kashmir dispute remains existential for Pakistan.
