Pakistan has shut all major border crossings with Iran and issued an advisory against its nationals travelling there. Hundreds of Pakistanis, mostly students, have left the country, crossing the Iran-Pakistan border at Taftan by bus. An estimated 40,000 Pakistanis live in Iran.
