Musk unlikely to create a winning political coalition: Analysis

The US Senate is voting on amendments to President Donald Trump's tax cuts bill. Senate Republicans are rushing to pass Trump's so-called "big, beautiful bill" before his deadline of July the 4th. Democrats are pushing for amendments to protect public healthcare services. Al Jazeera’s Alan Fisher reports from Washington, DC on the progress of the bill. Former Trump ally Elon Musk is promising to form a new political party - if the spending bill passes. Posting on his social media site X, the world's richest person describes the bill as “utterly insane” and “political suicide” for Trump's Republican Party. If it passes, he says he'll form the “America Party” the next day. Musk worked in the Trump administration until May, heading a cost-cutting agency. Bill Schneider is a Political Analyst and Professor of Public Policy at George Mason University. He says it's unlikely Musk can create a winning political coalition.
