LA protesters defy curfew, demand end to ICE raids amid National Guard deployment

Hundreds gathered peacefully in Los Angeles’ Grand Park to protest ICE immigration raids, distributing "red cards" advising undocumented immigrants not to engage with officers. Demonstrators condemned Trump’s deployment of the National Guard, insisting local police could manage without militarisation. The protest, aimed at halting family separations, saw attendees carry flowers to a Homeland Security-guarded detention facility. Despite an 8pm–6am curfew imposed after clashes, crowds remained defiant, calling the action necessary to stop raids. Organisers framed the rally as a defence of constitutional rights, comparing it to past LA mobilisations. Tensions persist as federal and local authorities face off over immigration enforcement.
