Kenyan anti-tax protest anniversary marked by fresh rallies and at least 16 killed

Deadly anti-government protests have erupted across Kenya, marking the anniversary of last year's demonstrations that claimed over 60 lives. Demonstrators in Nairobi and other cities are demanding justice for those killed, disappeared, or injured during previous protests, accusing police of excessive force and extrajudicial killings. The recent torture and death of a blogger in police custody has further fuelled public anger, leading to calls for comprehensive police reforms and accountability. Despite the risks, protesters remain determined to voice their frustrations with the government and what they perceive as a lack of responsiveness to citizens' concerns.
