Indian security forces are searching for the gunmen behind an attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, that killed 26 people, all men – the deadliest such incident in decades in the disputed region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who cut short a state visit to Saudi Arabia, decried the “heinous act” and pledged that the attackers “will be brought to justice”. India’s Federal Home Minister Amit Shah attended a ceremony at a police control room in Srinagar, where the slain tourists were paid floral tributes. Shah also met families of several victims and visited the site of the killing at Baisaran meadow, some 5km (3 miles) from the resort town of Pahalgam. Al Jazeera’s Felix Nyawara reports.
