Israeli strikes in Lebanon's Beqaa Valley have killed at least 12 people, marking the deadliest single-day toll since a November ceasefire. The attacks targeted sites Israel claims were Hezbollah weapons depots, including a strike that killed seven Syrian labourers and five alleged Hezbollah members. Despite the truce, Israel has conducted hundreds of strikes, accusing Hezbollah of rebuilding military capabilities. Lebanon’s government faces mounting pressure from Israel and the US to disarm Hezbollah but has opted for dialogue to avoid civil war. The US envoy recently warned Lebanon is at a crossroads, with fears that escalating Israeli strikes aim to force state action against the group. The conflict risks further destabilising a region already strained by unresolved tensions. Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr reports from Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon.
