Israeli officials' rhetoric fuelling Gaza genocide through dehumanisation and incitement: B’Tselem

A report by Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has documented how dehumanising rhetoric and incitement to violence against Palestinians have become normalised in Israeli society, paving the way for what the organisation describes as genocide in Gaza. The report highlights how statements from government officials and military commanders, such as 'there are no innocents in Gaza', have shaped military conduct and public opinion. B'Tselem argues that this process of dehumanisation, coupled with Israel's existing system of apartheid, has created the conditions for widespread public support of actions that amount to genocide. The report also examines how Israeli media has contributed to a lack of awareness within Israel about the scale of destruction in Gaza. It suggests that this combination of inflammatory rhetoric, military doctrine, and media coverage has led to broad public approval for policies such as the blockade on aid and the forcible transfer of Palestinians. B'Tselem warns that similar language is now being used to describe Palestinians in Israel and the occupied West Bank. Al Jazeera's Nida Ibrahim reports.
