Israel bombs Iran’s nuclear sites overnight; Tehran warns of fallout, fires missiles in retaliation

Israeli strikes targeted Iranian nuclear facilities at Arak, Natanz and Khondab overnight, with attacks also hitting Tehran’s security HQ and military sites, prompting internet blackouts across Iran. The IRGC retaliated with Sijil missiles, vowing to "teach Israel a lesson" in what it called a "hybrid strong retaliation." Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation reported strikes on a research reactor, warning of nuclear contamination risks while condemning IAEA inaction. Conflicting narratives emerged as Iranian sources described civilian casualties, including hospital and state TV bombings in Kermanshah and Tehran. Explosions and air defence activations shook the capital, with smoke rising over residential areas. Israel insisted it struck only military targets, though Tehran accused it of "systematic war" against civilians. Diplomatic efforts stalled as Iran confirmed no envoys were dispatched to Oman.
