Gaza risks turning into concentration camps under Israel’s displacement plans: UNRWA

UNRWA Communications Director Juliette Touma told Al Jazeera Israel’s forced displacement plan could create "massive concentration camps" in southern Gaza, driving traumatised civilians "into the unknown". She emphasised UNRWA’s refusal to operate in zones breaching humanitarian principles, with 6,000 aid trucks stranded at borders as supplies near expiry. Despite bans on international staff since March, 10,000 Palestinian UNRWA workers maintain clinics and shelters in Gaza under severe restrictions. In the West Bank, Touma cited 40,000 displaced – the worst since 1967 – with Jenin camp largely destroyed by Israeli operations. She described the "silent war" of settlements and raids, demanding a ceasefire and siege lift to avert collapse.
