Afghan returnees from Iran face uncertain future, harsh homecoming

At least two and a half million Afghans live in Iran, many of them as refugees fleeing war and economic collapse. The Iranian government gave those with refugee registration cards until Sunday to leave voluntarily, or face arrest and deportation. Since March, 700,000 have returned to Afghanistan, often with their lives upended. Here is one of their stories.
