Afghan survivor recalls horror as Pakistan-Afghanistan ceasefire brings fragile calm

A fragile ceasefire between Pakistan and Afghanistan appears to be holding after a week of deadly clashes that killed dozens on both sides — the worst fighting in years. In Kandahar’s Spin Boldak district, a Pakistani air raid destroyed a family home, killing five members, including four children and a woman, and injuring eight others. A survivor described the devastation, saying his family had no involvement in the conflict and pleaded for an end to the violence.
