Trump to meet Xi in Busan for pivotal talks on trade and global economy

US President Donald Trump received a warm welcome in South Korea ahead of his high-stakes meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump is expected to meet Xi on Thursday in Busan — their first face-to-face talks since the second US-China trade war began. He said he anticipates sealing a “great deal” with Beijing as both sides face mounting economic pressure. During his South Korea visit, Trump finalised a major investment and tariff deal with President Lee Jae Myung. The leaders also discussed Seoul’s request to reprocess spent nuclear fuel for naval use. Trump expressed optimism about resuming dialogue with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
