Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has arrived in Doha for a pivotal meeting with Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as the two nations convene the 11th session of their Supreme Joint Cooperation Committee. Over the last decade, Turkiye and Qatar have built an enduring partnership across political, economic, and military sectors, signing over 90 agreements since the Committee's establishment in 2014. This week’s session is set to deepen cooperation further, with discussions expected to cover investment, defence, finance, tourism, and the digital economy. The meeting comes at a crucial time as both nations play key roles in regional diplomacy. Turkiye and Qatar have recently acted as guarantors in the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, and coordinating humanitarian aid for Gaza is likely to dominate Wednesday's agenda. Officials will also address long-term stability in Syria and the modernisation of Turkiye's air force, potentially through the purchase of 24 Eurofighter Typhoon jets from Qatar. With shared ambitions for peace and stability in the volatile Middle East, both countries continue to position themselves as mediators and strategic allies in international affairs.
